A therapist from Polyclinic No. 4 shared how to properly warm up in cold weather. The recommendations were published on the Telegram channel of the Omsk Region Ministry of Health.
According to the specialist, tight clothing impairs circulation, so in winter it«s important to dress in layers: a base layer of a T-shirt and sweater made from natural fabrics, then a warm sweater, and on top, a down jacket or fur coat.
Footwear should also be loose and not squeeze the foot. It«s better to choose models with a thin sock to maintain normal blood circulation. While waiting for transport, don»t stand still—you need to move.
In severe frost, the doctor advises against applying moisturizing cream to the face before going outside and recommends covering it with a scarf. Nutrition also helps maintain warmth: a hearty meal, hot tea or coffee with cinnamon.
The specialist does not recommend drinking alcohol. Alcohol creates an illusion of warmth, dilates blood vessels, and accelerates heat loss, which can be dangerous.
«I can add that the myth about alcohol supposedly warming you up takes lives every winter. So alcohol in cold weather is dangerous.»
