In Chelyabinsk schools on Saturday, January 24, lessons were canceled due to the frost. This was reported by the unified duty dispatch service. Students from grades 1 to 11 of both shifts in schools with a six-day school week are staying home today.

According to the weather service 74.RU, at the time of publication, it was -33°C (-27°F) outside, and during the day, thermometers are expected to rise to -26°C (-15°F).

Recall that last week, lessons in Chelyabinsk were canceled three times, including for grades 1 through 11 in both shifts. Thermometers then dropped below -30°C (-22°F) (and in some spots, it was even -45°C (-49°F)). However, over the weekend, a sharp warming arrived, and Epiphany (a Christian feast day) passed with comfortable temperatures, but this week the frost has returned.

At the same time, according to the hydrometeorological center«s forecast, January 2026 in the Chelyabinsk region will not be abnormally cold.
