Brace for -35°C Again as New Frosts Loom in Bashkortostan

Bashkortostan is set to experience another wave of severe frosts, with temperatures plunging to -35°C (-31°F), according to weather forecasts. Meteorologists attribute the cold to an Arctic anticyclone moving over the region.

Frosts are expected again in Bashkortostan next night. According to Bashgidromet, the prevailing air temperature will range from -23°C (-9°F) to -28°C (-18°F), and during clearings, it will drop locally to -30°C (-22°F) and even -35°C (-31°F).

Meteorologists link the frosts to Bashkortostan being on the periphery of an Arctic anticyclone that has moved onto the mainland. Specialists believe that the average daily temperatures will be 9–12 degrees below the climatic norm.

According to the Bashgidromet forecast, on the night of January 24-25, it will cool down to -23°C (-9°F) and -28°C (-18°F), and during clearings — to -29°C (-20°F) and -34°C (-29°F). During the day, the temperature will rise, with most of the republic expecting from -15°C (5°F) to -20°C (-4°F), and in the northern regions — -25°C (-13°F).

On Sunday night, January 25-26, a drop to -23°C (-9°F) and -28°C (-18°F) is again forecast (during clearings — to -29°C (-20°F) and -34°C (-29°F)).
