Arkhangelsk Shows Snow Dump Site, Plans Snow-Melting Facility
Every winter, Arkhangelsk residents submit many complaints about snowdrifts that are not cleared from streets.
The administration of Arkhangelsk has published photos from the snow disposal site on Okruzhnoe Highway. Since the start of winter, 50,000 tons of snow have been taken there.
The volume of snow removed has exceeded the figure for the same period in 2025 by 10%.
As Dmitry Morev reported, in the near future, a snow-melting facility is planned to be opened in the Lomonosovsky district.
Snow from owners of administrative buildings and management companies is also dumped at the site.
«The task for 2026 is to develop project documentation. It concerns a stationary facility based on the drainage-pumping station of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise »Gorodskoye Blagoustroystvo« (City Improvement). After the snow melts, the water will pass through treatment facilities and only then enter the drainage system. The »haul distance« for snow removal will be significantly reduced, which will allow for quicker street cleaning,» he explained.
Arkhangelsk«s mayor inspected the snow disposal site during a working trip to assess operations.
