Volgograd officials explain how to navigate dangerous intersection with new road

Officials from the Volgograd administration have explained to drivers how to navigate the intersection of Bogdanov Street and Universitetsky Avenue. After the construction of a road along Rodnikovaya Street and the removal of the traffic light at the intersection, some motorists have encountered serious difficulties exiting onto the Second Longitudinal Road.
«They removed the traffic lights at the intersection of Bogdanov and Universitetsky Avenue. There are no prohibitory signs upon exiting. Now, for drivers to turn left, they have to go through a quest. Naturally, cars are getting into accidents,» complained motorists. «They should have just banned left turns, because drivers are trying to exit onto the Second Longitudinal Road with an attitude of »come what may,« and that section of the road is busy.»
Residents recall that the traffic light used to work normally, but now in the direction towards the Kirovsky District, it shows red, while the direction towards the center stays green for about 15 more seconds.
«People are starting to crash. Why this change was made is unclear; at night, maybe you can see that it»s green, but during the day...« the residents lamented.
Meanwhile, even in photos sent to the editorial office by V1.RU readers, it is clear that when exiting from Bogdanov Street onto the Second Longitudinal Road, there is a sign requiring drivers to yield and turn right only, but for some reason motorists don«t notice it.
The Volgograd administration advised drivers to travel in accordance with the requirements of traffic rules, road signs, and markings, and not to be guided by habit.
«At the intersection of the Second Longitudinal Highway and the local road leading from Bogdanov Street to Universitetsky Avenue, road sign 4.1.2 »Turn Right« has been installed, requiring drivers to turn right only,» stated the city hall. «To travel to the northern part of the city, drivers must turn right at this intersection, as required by the road sign, then make a U-turn at the nearest intersection. Monitoring drivers» compliance with traffic rules, markings, and traffic light signals falls within the authority of the traffic police.«
