Heavy snowfall that covered Ulyanovsk on the night of January 29-30 hampered traffic and caused jams. The city administration reported using 100 units of equipment and 120 workers to combat snowdrifts, removing 134 truckloads of snow. However, during the morning rush hour, snowdrifts were still noted on many central streets and avenues. Several minor accidents occurred in the Zavolzhsky and Zasviyazhsky districts due to the snow. Yards and approaches to houses were cleaned by 60 tractors and 950 janitors.
In his Telegram channel, Ulyanovsk head Alexander Boldakin emphasized that all city services will continue to operate in enhanced mode for the next three days. Weather forecasters predict up to 40 centimeters (about 16 inches) of additional snow.
