Tyumen Deputy Proposes Naming Street After Zhirinovsky

Vladimir Zhirinovsky died in April 2022
In Tyumen, authorities are considering naming an unnamed street in the Mys district after Vladimir Zhirinovsky. The decision on assigning the name will be brought before a meeting of a special commission.
«At the next meeting of the commission [...] the proposal by deputy D.L. Oshurkov from the single-mandate electoral district of the Tyumen City Duma to assign the name of Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky to an unnamed street-road element will be considered,» the Tyumen city administration reported.
According to the attached scheme, this street is located between the Lenta hypermarket and the first complex of skyscrapers on Tobolsky Trakt.
During his lifetime, Vladimir Zhirinovsky rarely interacted with the Tyumen region. However, one of his proposals sparked widespread public debate: the politician advocated for the unification of Tyumen Oblast, Yugra (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug), and Yamal (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) into a single federal subject, which would entail stripping the autonomous okrugs of their status.
