Due to drunk drivers, 98 accidents occurred in the Trans-Ural region, killing 30 people and injuring 115. Yuri Filipchuk, head of the Traffic Police Department for Kurgan Oblast, reported the results for 2025 at a press conference.

Last year, over 2,600 intoxicated drivers were removed from Trans-Ural roads, with 327 of them driving drunk repeatedly. Criminal cases were initiated against the latter.

To combat drunk driving, raids are conducted to find such motorists (the «Drunk Driver» operation will be held this weekend as well), unmarked patrol cars are stationed near bars, and in problematic districts, traffic police patrols are strengthened, essentially «blocking off the area» and conducting blanket checks of car owners, added the head of the Traffic Police.
