Construction of new metro tunnels advances in Nizhny Novgorod
Construction crews are installing cable brackets and engineering systems in the newly excavated metro tunnels during winter.
At the metro construction site in Nizhny Novgorod, the installation of tunnels between the future stations «Ploshchad Svobody» and «Sennaya» continues. In total, they plan to install six thousand brackets for securing cable lines, as reported in the Telegram channel «MetroNN — Nashe. Novoe».
In the first, right tunnel along the extension of the line from the «Park Kultury» station, metro builders have already created a rigid foundation for the upper track structure and have begun installing equipment. Currently, special curved brackets are being attached to the reinforced concrete lining. Then, cables and wires for low-current systems will begin to be laid here.
The «Vladimir» tunnel boring machine completed boring the second tunnel in December 2025. Now the machine is being lifted to the surface in parts, after which it will undergo an inspection. The dismantling is already nearing completion. Once done, engineering equipment installation will begin in the tunnel.
«Overall, underground, even in the freezing cold, work is in full swing!» noted the metro builders.
At the next stage, the contractor will begin construction of tunnels between Freedom Square and the «Gorkovskaya» metro station. In May of last year, it became known that their boring will be carried out by shields from the Chinese manufacturer CRCC, which residents previously named Georgy and Mikhail. It is expected that one of the complexes will start work in March, and the second will join it in April.
