Krylya Sovetov loan CSKA's fastest forward Shumansky

Samara«s Krylya Sovetov continue to strengthen their squad despite a transfer ban from the Russian Football Union (RFU). On Thursday, 29 January, the club»s Telegram channel released a funny (and mysterious) video in the style of the hit series «Stranger Things». This is how Krylya introduced their new player in an unusual way.

The player is 21-year-old CSKA forward Artem Shumansky. The Moscow club retains the player«s rights: a buyout option is excluded from the loan agreement.

«Football clubs Krylya Sovetov and CSKA have reached an agreement on the loan of forward Artem Shumansky until the end of the 2025/26 season,» states a post on the team«s channel.

Serbian club Partizan had also shown interest in Shumansky. However, the financial aspect played a role: the forward«s salary at CSKA was around three million rubles per month (approx. $33,000 at current rates). The Serbian club was not prepared to pay such an amount and asked the Army Men to cover part of the expenses. The Samara-based team agreed to cover Shumansky»s salary in full.

Artem is nicknamed Flash: in the 10th round match of the Russian Premier League (RPL) against Baltika, Shumansky reached a speed of 34.92 km/h (21.7 mph) and became the fastest player.

«Artem is a product of the Vitebsk football academy. He previously played for BATE, with whom he won the Belarusian Super Cup in 2022 and also secured bronze medals in the championship, and for Cypriot club Aris, with whom he became champion in the 2022/23 season and also won the Super Cup. He transferred to CSKA in July 2024. The forward has two goals in 23 matches for the capital team. He was first called up to the Belarus national team in early 2024, having previously progressed through the youth and under-21 setups,» Krylya Sovetov representatives said about the newcomer.

CSKA«s head coach has spoken highly of the forward.

«If he starts a game, it means he trains well. Shumansky has very interesting technical qualities, and he works excellently. I hope the injury is not serious. Artem really understands his worth, realizing that he can have a good season,» Rusfootball quotes Fabio Celestini as saying.
