Police in the Voronezh region registered 136 road accidents over the past 24 hours, according to the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD). And these are only the ones processed by state traffic inspectors. The majority of accidents, as always, occurred in Voronezh itself — exactly a hundred, in districts — 28, and the remaining eight — on federal highways. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but in four accidents, four people were injured.
Thus, an accident in the Borisoglebsk settlement of Mirolyubie in the Voronezh region nearly turned into a tragedy. On January 19 at around 15:10, near house No. 31 on Svoboda Street, a multi-ton KamAZ truck ran over a 51-year-old man — he sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital. He was standing behind the truck when it suddenly started reversing.
«At the wheel of the heavy truck was a 29-year-old local resident. According to preliminary data, the driver started moving in reverse without ensuring the maneuver«s safety,» said the Main Directorate of the MVD for the Voronezh Region.
The final punishment for the driver will depend on the severity of the consequences for the victim«s health. If experts determine light harm, then under Article 12.24 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences, this entails a fine from 3,750 to 7,500 rubles (approximately $42 to $83 at current rates) or license suspension for one to one and a half years. For medium severity, the fine is from 15,000 to 37,500 rubles (approximately $167 to $417 at current rates), or license suspension for one and a half to two years.
