Two die in head-on collision on Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway during snowfall
Heavy snowfall is currently affecting the Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway.
A tragedy occurred today at the 500th kilometer of the Tyumen–Khanty-Mansiysk road, claiming the lives of two people, according to the press service of the Tyumen Region State Traffic Inspectorate.
«A Volvo truck and a Lada Granta with Khanty-Mansiysk license plates collided at the scene. Preliminary reports indicate that the Lada drove into the oncoming lane. The driver and passenger of the Lada died in the crash, and their identities are being established,» the inspectorate«s statement said.
A traffic police unit is currently working at the scene.
Traffic on the highway is not restricted, but road conditions are currently very difficult — a snowstorm is underway, which is reducing visibility. The State Traffic Inspectorate and the editorial office of 72.RU are urging drivers to be more careful — please try to avoid risky overtaking and reduce speed.
Earlier, we reported that surveillance cameras in Tyumen captured terrifying footage of a woman running across the road. In an attempt to cross the roadway without using a crosswalk, she tripped and fell under the wheels of a car. The impact threw her several meters, and she miraculously survived.
