Three gas station workers arrested in Kuytunsky District for fuel theft

Three gas station employees were apprehended in Kuytunsky District for allegedly siphoning gasoline from pumps.
Police detained three gas station workers for stealing gasoline and diesel fuel in Kuytunsky District. The damage is estimated at 1 million rubles (approximately $10,000 at current rates), according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Irkutsk Region.
According to police, a former manager and two cashier-operators systematically drained AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline and diesel fuel from fuel dispensing columns. To conceal this, they tampered with the automated fuel measurement system and turned off cameras.
The stolen fuel was sold to residents of Kuytunsky District, and the proceeds were spent at their discretion. During a search of the three suspects« residences, polymer containers with diesel fuel, three cars, and cell phones were seized.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code, «Fraud committed on a particularly large scale,» which carries penalties of up to 10 years in prison with a fine of up to one million rubles (about $10,000 at current rates).
