Sochi Center Residents Hear Loud Explosions as Air Defense Works

Sirens have been activated seven times in Sochi and Sirius. The resort«s air defense is repelling a UAV attack. The airport is closed to ensure flight safety. The checkpoint on the Russian-Abkhazian border has temporarily suspended operation. Residents of central Sochi heard at least two powerful explosions.
«The siren is very loud,» write Sochi residents.
«What was that? The walls even shook,» writes a subscriber of one of Sochi«s Telegram channels.
«Two strong bangs. Car alarms went off,» reports a Sochi resident.
Eyewitnesses claim that the explosions were heard even in Adler. On Makarenko Street, in the Zavokzalny microdistrict, on KSM, Gagarin Street, Tsvetnoy Boulevard, and even in Matsesta, it «boomed» so that windows in apartments shook.
Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin confirmed in his Telegram channel that the city«s air defense system is operating. The military is repelling a UAV attack.
«All services have been brought to a state of maximum readiness. They are coordinated by the city operational headquarters. I ask Sochi residents and city guests to remain calm and observe necessary safety measures. If you live near the coastline — do not go outside under any circumstances, stay in a windowless room,» the message says.
The mayor asked Sochi residents to refrain from filming and posting on social media about air defense operations, UAVs and their debris, as well as the work of special and operational services.
«Remain calm! Wait for the signal to be canceled as soon as the situation in Sochi becomes safe!» concluded the mayor.
