Police in Yaroslavl Chase Suspect on Suzdal Highway

Early in the morning on 20 January, an incident occurred on Suzdal Highway in Yaroslavl, during which police chased a suspect«s car.
According to the regional police department (UMVD), around 03:25 opposite house No. 2 on Suzdal Highway, traffic police officers attempted to stop a VAZ-2115 car.
«The driver ignored the demand, continued driving, and attempted to flee,» the department noted.
The law enforcement officers gave chase.
«During the pursuit, using a loudspeaker system, they repeatedly demanded that the driver stop, but he did not respond,» the police added.
The suspect, trying to shake off the pursuit, created hazardous situations and grossly violated traffic rules.
In connection with this, the inspectors used firearms. Warning shots were fired, as well as shots at the car«s wheels, which allowed the vehicle to be stopped.
At the wheel was a 21-year-old resident of Yaroslavl, who did not have the right to drive vehicles.
The young man was detained, and his car was placed in a specialized parking lot. There were no casualties from the use of weapons.
Regarding the driver, materials have been drawn up under the following articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses:
- Part 1, Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation «Disobeying a lawful demand of a police officer»;
- Part 2, Article 12.25 «Failure to comply with a lawful demand of a police officer to stop a vehicle»;
- Part 1, Article 12.7 «Driving a vehicle by a driver without the right to drive a vehicle»;
- Part 1, Article 12.12 «Driving through a red traffic light»;
- Part 4, Article 12.15 «Driving into a lane intended for oncoming traffic»;
- Part 1, Article 12.1 «Driving a vehicle not registered in the prescribed manner».
In the published operational video, the detainee admitted that he regrets his actions.
