Cars ablaze in drone attack near Krasnodar, residents recount

Residents of Krasnodar on January 20 at around 22:40, 23:06, and 23:40 heard loud explosions and a powerful roar. Most reports of terrifying sounds are coming from the Yubileyny and Festivalny microdistricts, as well as Novaya Adygeya.

«It was very, very loud. The house shook violently. And the windows too. I thought they would shatter,» said a resident of the Yubileyny Microdistrict,

Beyond the Turgenev Bridge, locals noticed flames. A fire started in the area of one of the residential complexes.

According to authorities, a drone attack is being repelled, but in Krasnodar there is no damage. The head of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, confirmed that «a fire occurred, which affected an apartment building and a parking lot with cars in the village of Novaya Adygeya.» Emergency services are working on the scene. People are being evacuated, reports a 93.RU journalist from the location.

«Balconies were smashed to pieces, especially where the strike hit. The strike was right between the houses. Everything was blown away. Firefighters arrived an hour later,» 93.RU was told by residents of Novaya Adygeya, whose car burned in the parking lot.

«All the windows in the house are broken, cars are burning, nothing is visible, it»s dark.«

Locals also report that out of fear, many decided to move away from the scene of the emergency, and traffic jams formed on the exits.

The repelling of the drone attack is also ongoing in Sochi, where sirens were activated at the resort. It should be noted that in Krasnodar and neighboring Adygea, the alert system was not activated.
