Body of Missing Urals Woman Discovered in Rented Apartment

On December 28, Svetlana spoke with her son on the phone and then stopped contacting him.
The body of 45-year-old Svetlana Shatalina from Serov was found in Yekaterinburg. On January 16, the search was called off, and it was later reported that the woman had died.
Svetlana came to Yekaterinburg from Serov, rented an apartment, and when she moved out—disappeared without a trace. The search had been ongoing since December 28. That was when she last contacted her only son, 18-year-old Nikita.
In Serov, Svetlana is survived by her mother and has an older sister. The deceased had worked in banks, as a salesperson in a grocery store, but recently—as a manager at a property management company.
“Friendly, kind. She loved her son very much, adored him, doted on him. She raised him alone. For a long time, she didn’t work at all, receiving a pension: as far as I know, she had a disability related to an illness from childhood,” an acquaintance of the deceased named Svetlana told E1.RU.

On January 16, volunteers announced that Svetlana was dead.
A friend of the deceased told E1.RU that last summer Svetlana often came to Yekaterinburg for dental prosthetics. After that, she returned to Serov.
“A wonderful person, very responsible. She didn’t have any romantic affairs, no bad habits, always worked. She was always in the ‘home—work’ mode,” an acquaintance shared with E1.RU.

The deceased is survived by an adult son.
According to Ural Mash, the woman’s body was found on the balcony of a rented apartment in Yekaterinburg. Before the New Year, she wanted to get permanent makeup, and then, on December 29, return home.
The Telegram channel published her last message to her son.

The last time Svetlana spoke with her son was on December 28, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda. She told him: “Son, I’ll return home tomorrow,” but soon stopped contacting him.
“I called her during the day, she didn’t answer. I thought she was on the train, but in the evening she never came home,” Nikita told the portal “KP-Yekaterinburg.” “As far as I know, mom has no friends in Yekaterinburg. First I tried to search for her on my own, and on January 2 I filed a missing person report with the police.”
Meanwhile, according to friends of the deceased, signs of a violent death were found on the woman’s body.
The Sverdlovsk Investigative Committee has not yet commented on the incident.
