Tyumen singer with cancer receives painkillers after complaints

Angelika Talantseva, a renowned singer from Tyumen, has been fighting cancer for over three years.
Angelika Talantseva, a well-known Tyumen singer and conductor who has been fighting cancer for over three years, needed strong painkillers—morphine. However, according to her son, he was unable to obtain a prescription for the medication due to bureaucracy. The prescription was issued only after numerous complaints and appeals. Throughout this time, the woman experienced severe pain.
The Department of Health explained that morphine is a strictly controlled narcotic drug. It can only be prescribed after an in-person examination of the patient by a doctor and upon presentation of a complete set of documents. The department emphasized that this measure is not bureaucracy but a legal requirement aimed at citizen safety.
«As with the patient, the drug was promptly prescribed as soon as the local therapist was able to conduct a personal home examination (within approximately two hours from the initial appeal by relatives to the medical institution),» the department clarified.
Currently, Angelika Talantseva is at home, and she has been visited by a palliative care doctor. The department and City Polyclinic No. 5 expressed readiness for further operational cooperation.
Angelika Talantseva led the choir chapel of the Tyumen Philharmonic for 15 years. After the diagnosis, she not only continued treatment but also supported other patients, performing at the oncology center.
