The private clinic «Crystal» in Yakutsk has refused to perform abortions and revoked its license for this service starting January 2026. The decision was made voluntarily in response to a call from the republic«s Ministry of Health to follow the example of other regions. The clinic does not regret its decision at all. This was reported to a 14.RU correspondent by the chief physician and acting director of »Crystal,« Maria Fedorova.

«Crystal» has become the third private clinic in Yakutsk to revoke its license for pregnancy termination. Before it, «Yannamed» and «Aurora» did the same.

«We revoked the license in January, as soon as we returned to work. We do not regret our decision because we stand for demography, we advise thinking about children. The initiative came from the republic»s Ministry of Health last year, and we decided to support it. We know that our colleagues from the «Yannamed» clinic have also refused this procedure,« Maria Fedorova said.

The «Crystal» clinic has existed since 2012 and is located at 20 Dzerzhinsky Street. It provides medical services to the population on an outpatient basis, has its own laboratory, functional diagnostics room, ultrasound, and so on. A medical abortion up to 5 weeks earlier cost 13,930 rubles (about $155 at current rates).

Chief physician Fedorova believes that abortions were very rarely performed at their clinic.

«This procedure was not popular from the start,» she assured.

Last year, the clinic «Yannamed» revoked its license to perform abortions. Then director Svetlana Yakovleva told 14.RU that abortion is «also the killing of a person.»

The head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, supported the initiative of the republic«s Ministry of Health and on December 23, 2025, signed a decree prohibiting the coercion of women to have abortions. According to the results of 2025, the republic ranks 10th in the birth rate and tops the list in the Far East.
