Parents report improvement in schoolchildren's condition after infection

Parents of students at the Onokhino school in Tyumen Region reported that the condition of children who fell ill with an intestinal infection improved significantly overnight.

The first reports of the ill appeared on January 28, and symptoms of poisoning manifested in schoolchildren on the night of January 29.

One parent noted that the last night passed calmly for the family. «Today the child feels excellent. In the evening, there was chills without fever, and the night passed calmly. No one else at home fell ill,» reported a resident of Tyumen.

Another parent from the village of Onokhino also confirmed that the children have gotten better. «Today the children have regained their appetite. They are already feeling normal. They are taking the medications prescribed at the hospital,» said the mother of the affected schoolchildren.

The incident of mass infection became known on January 29. The number of victims is being clarified: according to media reports, 116 schoolchildren fell ill, but according to official information from the government«s information center, 28 appeals were received.

«A total of 28 appeals were received at the operational department of the Ambulance Station: calls in urgent form were transferred to clinics for 21 children and 5 adults. Ambulance teams provided on-site assistance to two children—aged 8 and 13—after which the data was transferred to the clinic,» the information center cites the words of the Tyumen Region Department of Health.

The school in Onokhino has been switched to remote learning, but the end date of this regime has not yet been determined.
