Heavy snowfall worsens road conditions in Yekaterinburg

A powerful snowfall in Yekaterinburg has seriously complicated the road situation. Instead of promptly removing the fallen snow, utility workers treated the roadway with chemicals, leading to the formation of a dirty slush on the asphalt. Cars are quickly covered with a layer of dark muck, and sidewalks and roadways have become slippery and difficult to traverse.

Photographs taken in the city eloquently demonstrate the scale of the problem. The sight of streets covered in a mixture of snow, chemicals, and dirt does not inspire a desire to leave home unnecessarily.

City authorities reported on the measures taken. At a meeting with district administration heads on January 30, the progress of cleanup work was discussed.

Administration heads have been instructed to closely monitor territory cleanup, district road maintenance departments are required to remove at least 1,500 tons of snow per day. They will be held accountable for quality. The technology is standard: sweeping — forming snow banks in gutters — removal,

reported the city administration«s press service.

Recall that the snowstorm hit the Urals capital on the morning of January 29, bringing significant precipitation and requiring intensified work from municipal services.
