Yakutia College Deputy Accused in Bribery Scheme

The acting first deputy director of the Chernyshevsky Vilyui Professional Pedagogical College has been accused of issuing driving school certificates for bribes. This was reported on January 28 in the Telegram channel of the republic«s investigative committee.

According to the investigation, from April 2021 to July 2024, the accused issued certificates for training under programs A, B, and C for a fee, but the students did not actually study or take exams. Money was given to him personally or through intermediaries.

Investigators have identified 20 bribes totaling over 620,000 rubles (approximately $6,200 at current rates). However, the former deputy director also engaged in fraud: from June 2021 to January 2025, he issued certificates in the name of an institution that had closed back in 2020. In total, he issued 38 such documents for 1.1 million rubles (approximately $11,000 at current rates).

During the preliminary investigation, real estate was seized from the accused. The criminal case has been sent to court for consideration on the merits.
