A court in the Yasnogorsk district has issued a verdict in a fraud case committed by an organized group. The prosecution was supported by the Yasnogorsk district prosecutor«s office.
A 17-year-old resident of the Moscow region found himself in the dock. The court established that in August 2025, the teenager was drawn into a fraud scheme by unidentified individuals and acted as a courier. Under the supervision of a coordinator, he collected cash from deceived pensioners and passed it on to other members of the group.
In Yasnogorsk, the young man took 1.1 million rubles (about $11,000 at current rates) from an elderly man and passed the sum to an accomplice in Moscow. The victim had been previously misled, convinced that illegal actions were being taken with his bank accounts and that the money needed to be urgently transferred to a so-called «safe account».
Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the defendant«s minor age, and the full compensation for the damage caused, the court handed down a suspended sentence of two years of imprisonment with a two-year probationary period.
The court also ruled to confiscate the mobile phone belonging to the convicted person and used in the commission of the crime, with the proceeds to go to the state.
