Shchyokino pensioner gets 3-year suspended sentence for cannabis

The Shchyokino Interdistrict Court of the Tula Region has issued a verdict in a case of illegal drug possession on a large scale.

As the court established, in early August 2025, the man found a cannabis bush near one of the villages in the Shchyokino District. He cut the leaves of the plant, obtaining cannabis (marijuana) weighing 232 grams, after which he moved the drug to his home and hid it in the attic, where he stored it.

On 15 October 2025, during operational activities, police officers discovered and seized the narcotic substance. The seized amount is classified as a large quantity.

The defendant fully admitted his guilt. By the verdict of 28 January 2026, he was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment, suspended, with a probation period of 3 years. During this period, the convict has been assigned additional obligations.
