Shchyokino man fined over banned WhatsApp video slogan

A resident of Shchyokino, Tula Oblast, was fined after recording and sending a video in a WhatsApp group that contained a slogan from a banned organization.

The Shchyokino Interdistrict Court of Tula Oblast considered an administrative offense case against local resident Isbulatov Zh. M. He was held liable for displaying banned symbols.

As the court established, on the morning of 10 January 2026, while at his home, the man recorded a video message and sent it to a WhatsApp messenger group named «Sweetness at Dena»s«. The video contained a slogan that is the official greeting of the Ukrainian People»s Revolutionary Army. This organization is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice in the list of banned ones.

The man«s actions were classified under Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation — propaganda or public demonstration of symbols of extremist organizations.

During the court hearing, Isbulatov fully admitted guilt and repented for his actions. The court took these circumstances into account and imposed a punishment in the form of an administrative fine of 2,000 rubles (about $20 at current rates).
