Prosecution seeks 15-year prison term for Arkhangelsk college attacker

The prosecution has requested a 15-year prison term for 18-year-old Arkhangelsk resident Artemy Koryukov, who attacked with a knife teachers and students at the Arkhangelsk Technical College of Construction and Economics.
It is proposed that Koryukov will serve the main part of his sentence in a prison, and then in a strict-regime correctional colony. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor«s Office of the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
Koryukov is charged under Part 2 of Article 205.5 and Part 3 of Article 30, points «a», «b», «l» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (participation in a terrorist organization and attempted murder of four persons motivated by ideological hatred and in connection with the victims performing their public duty).
«The young man posted a message online stating his intention to commit a mass killing, after which the next day, armed with a knife, he attacked his former teacher and inflicted several stab wounds on her. Trying to escape, the attacker stabbed another female teacher who blocked his path and also attempted to kill two students who were trying to detain him. The defendant fully admitted his guilt for the crimes during the judicial investigation,» the prosecutor«s office reported.
The attack on the teachers occurred on the morning of 29 September: the young Arkhangelsk resident came to the educational institution wearing a mask and carrying a knife. The young man might have been allowed in using an old student ID. The injured teachers were hospitalized with serious wounds. There is a version that this could have been revenge: Koryukov was expelled during his second year.
Ordinary students helped detain the unstable young man. They handed him over to a patrol unit. Later, the students were awarded, as Senator Mizulina had wanted.
The incident was also commented on by Governor Alexander Tsybulsky. He said the situation had shocked everyone. Meanwhile, the regional ministry of education noted that, despite coming from a well-off family, Koryukov had been on a register.
