Orenburg Court to Rule on Nabi Osmanov's Release from Custody

Materials regarding the chosen preventive measure for Nabi Osmanov, head of the Nezhinsky Rural Council, have been submitted to the Orenburg Regional Court. His lawyer has appealed the official«s detention. Whether to release him will be decided tomorrow, January 22.
Recall that, as reported by 56.RU, since early November last year, Osmanov had been under house arrest due to charges of embezzlement or misappropriation while using his official position, and on a large scale (Part 3 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), but on January 16, the Orenburg District Court changed his preventive measure to a more severe one.
«Signs of violation of the prohibitions and restrictions provided for by house arrest have been identified. In particular, the accused is pressuring witnesses and compelling them to give knowingly false testimony, trying in this way to avoid criminal liability,» reported the prosecutor«s office press service.
And that«s not all: besides the fact that the regional court today did not release from pre-trial detention a 21-year-old resident of Buzuluk accused of the brutal murder of a one-and-a-half-year-old child, the region»s main court also rejected the appellate complaint of the lawyer for high-ranking police officer Shafkhat Shamshayev from the anti-corruption department — he also remains in custody.
