Novosibirsk man to face trial for 2010 murder

The suspect has confessed to a murder committed 15 years ago, and the case has been sent to court after renewed investigation.

In Novosibirsk, a local resident will be tried for murder (Section «c» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code), which occurred 15 years ago. This was reported by the Investigative Committee for the region.

According to the investigation, in July 2010, a 41-year-old man came to a garage in the Dzerzhinsky district. There, the victim was accepting secondary raw materials. At the collection point, the accused stabbed the victim with a knife, and he died on the spot from the injuries. The suspect stole money and left.

«For a long time, the murder, committed under unclear circumstances, remained unsolved. Employees of the Investigative Committee and police worked on various versions of what happened and the victim«s circle of acquaintances. Joint work to establish the circumstances of the crime and the person involved in its commission continued,» the statement said.

After some time, investigators were able to find a witness to the incident. In September 2025, the case proceedings were resumed. As a result of investigative actions, the suspect gave a confession. Now the case has been sent to court.

Earlier it was reported that in the Novosibirsk region, a verdict was issued against former employees of the Ust-Tarka police department. They were found guilty of murder and a number of other crimes.
