Kurgan driver convicted for drunk driving death of mother

In Kurgan, a court has issued a verdict in a traffic accident case in which a pensioner died. During the court hearing, it was established that at night in early July 2025, the 53-year-old accused was drunk. He was driving a Cherry A13 car and was passing through the intersection of Gogol and Volodarsky streets. While making a left turn, he failed to yield to a fire truck (which was traveling in the opposite direction with flashing lights on), and the vehicles collided.
In the accident, the passenger of the Cherry A13 car (the convicted man«s mother) sustained injuries from which she died in the resuscitation vehicle.
The court found the driver of the foreign-made car guilty under Part 4 of Article 264 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in the negligent death of a person). The defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed his remorse.
The court sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment to be served in a colony-settlement. Also, the driver will be unable to drive for 2.5 years. Previously, 45.RU showed the moment of the fatal accident.
