Kurgan businessman fined for bribing former official

A court in Kurgan has found a businessman guilty in a bribery case involving a former official.
Kurgan businessman Sergei Lushnikov has been sentenced in a bribery case. This is reported on the website of the Ketovsky District Court. The entrepreneur was convicted under Part b, Clause 4, Article 291 of the Russian Criminal Code (giving a large bribe to an official). The press service of the judicial system of Zauralye 45.RU specified that the businessman was fined 1.5 million rubles (approximately $16,700 at current rates).
The businessman«s case was considered as part of another court proceeding — concerning former first deputy head of the administration of Ketovsky District Nikolai Babkin. The investigation believes that Babkin committed a crime under Clause »v«, Part 5, Article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code (receiving a large bribe by an official).
“The accused, using his official position, received a bribe of 600,000 rubles (about $6,700 at current rates) from one of the entrepreneurs. In exchange for this reward, the official was supposed to help with the placement of a non-stationary trading object on the territory of Kurgan,” the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Kurgan Region previously provided its account.
