Kazan Court to Hear Case of 'Marriage Swindler' Who Scammed Women

In Kazan, the trial will begin for a «businessman» who, according to law enforcement, deceived more than 20 women out of 51 million rubles ($550,000 at current rates). This was reported by the prosecutor«s office and the Republic of Tatarstan»s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).
Posing as a successful entrepreneur allegedly importing foreign cars from Armenia was a 42-year-old resident of Buinsk, previously convicted five times for fraud, drug trafficking, robbery, and car theft.
The man gained the trust of his romantic interests: he helped with household matters and obtaining mortgages. Then, after becoming close, he would claim to have business problems and borrow large sums of money from them.
Using this scheme, he stole over 51 million rubles, law enforcement believes. Among the alleged victims are 23 women and one Kazan man who gave the Buinsk resident 2.3 million rubles for a car. It is alleged the accused even swindled 12 million rubles from his live-in girlfriend.
He faces up to 10 years in prison for fraud. The man partially admitted guilt and returned only 9.7 million rubles.
He was detained in April 2025. The MVD published a video showing an example of the dialogue the gigolo used to establish psychological contact with women and gain their trust. In the dialogue, the Tatarstan man showers the latest victim with compliments, thanks the «baby» for money she gave him to buy a smartphone, and promises to return it soon with interest.
To help their beloved, the deceived women went to great lengths. One of them took out 27 loans, and another sold her apartment and lost 33 lbs. The MVD, commenting on the case, noted it was the first time they had seen a man deceive women so cynically.
