Ex-Volsky District head Tatarinov placed under house arrest

Former head of Volsky District and the city of Shikhany, Andrey Tatarinov, has been placed under house arrest. Representatives of the Volzhsky District Court of Saratov reported this.
The investigation requested that Tatarinov be taken into custody. However, judge Denis Panteev placed the former official under house arrest from January 21 to February 12, 2026, inclusive. The day before, it became known that Tatarinov had been detained in connection with a criminal case related to corruption in the closed town of Shikhany (ZATO).
Andrey Tatarinov headed Shikhany from 2016 to 2021, and Volsky District from 2021 to 2025. He resigned on the same day as Vice-Governor Igor Pivovarov, who was considered his protégé, on February 13, 2025. In May, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case against Tatarinov under point «v» of part 3 of article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code on abuse of official authority causing grave consequences.
The investigation accuses the former official of illegally authorizing the felling of trees in Shikhany, which led to environmental damage. Because of this, in the closed town, it is necessary to restore the fertile soil layer and green plantings. Under this article, Tatarinov faces from three to ten years of imprisonment.
