At Sheremetyevo Airport on June 23, 2025, a passenger who had flown to Moscow from Cairo grabbed a two-year-old boy in the baggage claim area and from his own height threw him to the floor. The boy sustained severe injuries, including a skull fracture, and was in a coma for a long time.

The department clarified that the investigation is complete, and the materials should soon be transferred to court. Vitkov is accused of attempted murder of a child committed while under the influence of drugs.

The man faces up to 15 years in prison, but he may avoid a prison sentence. After conducted examinations, experts found that Vitkov may not have been aware of his actions. Before flying to Russia, he used drugs, which worsened his condition.

“During the investigation, a comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examination was conducted on the man, according to which he cannot comprehend the actual nature and social danger of his actions, and therefore the criminal case against him will be sent to court to decide on the application of compulsory medical measures,” the Investigative Committee reported.

It is known that Vitkov was registered at a psychoneurological dispensary. “Something like schizophrenia,” the man commented on his diagnosis in court.

The father of two-year-old Yazdan, who sustained a severe traumatic brain injury, told MSK1.RU that he will seek a harsher punishment if the man is sent for treatment.

“There«s not even a whiff of justice here. I will file an appeal,” said Mohammad Shahim.

According to the father, the boy is not feeling very well. He is still recovering from the consequences of the injury.

“My son is feeling bad. Not like before anymore,” Mohammad Shahim told MSK1.RU.

Yazdan«s father added that the family has not yet been given a referral for an MRI, which was supposed to be done six months after the incident.

“I approached the doctors, they wanted to do a head MRI, and for weeks nothing happened. From Roshal, they came home once, examined him — and nothing more. We called the hospital in December about the MRI, but we still don«t have a referral,” Yazdan»s father said.

MSK1.RU has reported what is known about the boy«s family and about Vladimir Vitkov. All the latest news on this incident, we are collecting in a separate story.
