Arkhangelsk man uses pistol in attempted store robbery

A man from Arkhangelsk attempted to rob a store using a pellet gun, but the clerk refused to hand over money. He was later arrested and could face up to 10 years in prison.

An Arkhangelsk resident attempted to rob a store by threatening with a pneumatic pistol. The female employee refused to give him money, and the man left. Very soon, he was detained by criminal investigation officers.

The incident occurred in the Varavino-Faktoriya district, in a store on Nikitov Street.

«According to the salesperson, a man entered the sales area, his face hidden by a scarf. Threatening with an object resembling a pistol, he demanded to hand over the money in the cash register. The employee refused, after which the unknown man fled,» the Arkhangelsk Region Police Department said of the failed robbery.

The hapless criminal was found near one of the houses on Voronin Street by officers from the «Southern» police department of the Arkhangelsk city police. He turned out to be a 29-year-old resident of the Varavino-Faktoriya district. During a search, a pneumatic pistol was seized from him.

«A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway. The perpetrator faces up to 10 years of imprisonment,» police report.

Recently, another Arkhangelsk resident stole a painting from an art salon-gallery on Voskresenskaya Street. He was also found, and the painting was returned.

In 2025, a drunk resident of Nyandoma stole a car, kidnapped a person, and threatened him with a knife. Teenagers helped him commit the crimes.
