Another Police Officer Detained in Orenburg

A deputy department head was detained in Orenburg on suspicion of taking a bribe.
Another police officer has been detained in the regional center. According to press services of the FSB and the Investigative Committee, he is the deputy head of the migration issues department of the Orenburg City Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He is accused of accepting a bribe on a significant scale committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (point «a,» part 5, article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code).
According to scarce preliminary information, back in October, the law enforcement officer received, quote, «a bribe in the form of unlawful provision of property-related services,» and in exchange, he was supposed to turn a blind eye to a violation of migration law and not «pursue» an administrative case.
«Investigators have conducted searches and are carrying out other investigative and procedural actions aimed at collecting and securing the evidence base. A preventive measure has been chosen against the suspect,» the Investigative Committee reported.
The Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also, as is traditional, commented on the detention.
«If guilt is confirmed, he will be dismissed from the internal affairs bodies on negative grounds and will be punished in accordance with the procedure established by law.»
It should be noted that this is far from the first police officer detained in Orenburg recently. As reported by 56.RU, three employees of the anti-corruption department are currently in a pre-trial detention center.
