Yakutia sets record silver extraction; key companies listed

Subsoil users in Yakutia extracted 587 tons of silver in 2025, which is 90% more than the previous year, reports the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Geology of Yakutia.
“For the first time in history, we have exceeded the mark of 500 tons annually! In the coming year, the task is not to lower the bar, but to maintain the achieved volumes,” notes Minister of Industry and Geology of Yakutia Maxim Tereshchenko.
The minister highlighted key regions where silver is mined — Verkhoyansky, Tomponsky, and Kobyaysky. Subsoil users operating there include JSC «Prognoz» (part of Silver Bear Resources Inc.), LLC «Prognoz-Serebro» (part of Polymetal), and «GeoProMining Verkhne Menkeche». These companies own the largest silver reserves in the republic, regularly opening new mines. For example, the same «Prognoz-Serebro» will develop the Deputatsky ore cluster for 25 years and mine silver in the Ust-Yansky district. For this, the company paid 391.5 million rubles (approximately $4 million at current rates).
Yakutia is one of the key regions in Russia for silver reserves. The largest assets are the «Prognoz» deposit (292 million ounces of silver, 15.5 million tons of ore), «Verkhne-Menkeche» (2,237 thousand tons of silver, 236 tons of lead, and 245 tons of zinc), and «Vertikalnoye» (silver reserves of 1,147.7 tons).
