St. Petersburg Opens a Hotel and Seven Aparthotels
On January 30, the consulting company NF GROUP reported that last year, the city launched a hotel with 802 rooms and seven aparthotels with a projected capacity of 2,400 units.
Among the new properties is the 3-star SVET hotel in the Kalininsky District, which entered the top 5 hotels in St. Petersburg by room inventory volume.
“The key driver of the market has been the aparthotel segment. Demand indicators, in turn, also reflect positive but more restrained dynamics compared to the records of previous years,” says Olga Shirokova, partner and regional director of the consulting and analytics department at NF GROUP.
As of January 2026, the total quality supply of classic hotels in the Northern Capital includes 119 properties with a room inventory of 15,800 units.
Meanwhile, industry experts note signs of a crisis in the classic hotel segment. In St. Petersburg, the commissioning deadlines for new properties are shifting:
- the Lakhta Towers complex on Primorsky Prospekt has been postponed from 2025 to 2026;
- the House of Faith hotel on Voznesenskaya Embankment is likely to open in 2027 instead of 2026;
- the commissioning of the LSR Group hotel on Ligovsky Prospekt and the Ostrov Fortov hotel in Kronstadt may be delayed from 2027 to 2028.
“Since 2024, we have seen that Russians are losing interest in domestic travel; they have already visited most of the destinations that interest them. At the same time, demand for foreign trips is recovering, which is linked to the expansion of available air services, including the emergence of a large number of offers from budget airlines, primarily from Southeast Asia and China,” noted Yunis Teymurkhanly, owner of the Helvetia hotel.
