In Yekaterinburg, a woman stole a kitten from a disabled girl. Ten-year-old Nastya was walking the pet in her yard on Opalikhinskaya Street. A stranger approached, unclipped the animal from the leash chain and took it away.

“The cat was only on the street for the second time. So she was shaking and scared. My daughter was pulling her on the chain, forcing her to walk,” the girl’s mother said. “She declared that this was cruel treatment and took Lyaysya (the kitten’s name – Ed.) away. What happened to us tonight is awful. The child has mental disorders, there was an attack at night, my daughter cried all night, screaming: ‘Lyaysya, Lyaysya.’”

Security camera recorded the stranger unclipping the kitten from its leash and walking off with it.

The girl’s mother said that the kitten appeared in the family nine months ago. The pet was acquired specifically for Nastya. The girl studies at home and rarely goes out, she has few friends. The cat Lyaysya was her favorite.

“Nastya called on the intercom, we rushed outside. But I am disabled myself, I have one leg, of course, I couldn’t catch up with that woman,” the girl’s father said.

A few hours later, the family saw their pet on a classified ads website. It stated that the kitten would be given away to a good home. The mother contacted the woman whose number was listed on the site. She declared that she would not return Lyaysya to the girl.

The woman who took the kitten sent a voice message to the family refusing to give it back.

The girl’s parents contacted the police. They hope that law enforcement will help return the kitten home.

Earlier we wrote about how a resident of Pervouralsk went to court in attempts to retrieve her dog from animal protection. While concerned owners file lawsuits hoping to get their pets back, others abandon animals. In Berezovsky, a girl brought a healthy kitten for euthanasia, because she was too lazy to treat ringworm (which, as it turned out, wasn’t even present). In the same city, a whole family of kittens was left under the stairs in someone else’s entrance.
