In the Irkutsk region, police rescued an injured owl. The bird was found in the middle of a rural highway, struggling to move. Officers placed it in a box and took it to the House of Nature. Here«s what»s happening with the bird now.

The rescued owl is a Ural owl. It has been diagnosed with severe exhaustion, a traumatic brain injury (TBI), eye damage, and severe stress.
Officers found the owl on a rural highway and transported it to safety.

Zoo gallery specialists have placed the owl in an enclosure with dim lighting and limited human contact to allow it to recover, reduce stress, and avoid habituation, so it can eventually be released back into the wild.
According to the Irkutsk Zoo Gallery, the bird«s condition is stable and its appetite is normal. It can be released in the future, but an ornithologist recommends waiting until large thawed patches appear in the forest, such as on sunny slopes.
«After treatment and rehabilitation, the owl will have difficulty finding food in the deep snow cover this year. We will monitor the situation and make a decision based on the conditions,» emphasized the Irkutsk Zoo Gallery.
Currently, the patient is in the care facility at the House of Nature. It will not be shown to visitors, as this is strictly prohibited for animals that have a chance to return to the wild.
