Perm sphinx cat needs home, changes fur with weather
Cleo«s appearance changes with the seasons, from bald in summer to furry in winter.
A home is being sought for Cleo, a sphinx cat with Siamese coloring, in Perm. The kitten grows fur in cool weather and is bald in summer.
The Murkot shelter is placing two-year-old cat Cleo. Shelter manager Natalia Vodoleeva told 59.RU that the bald cat was found this spring in a hotel complex in the Excavatornaya Street area. The complex owners were feeding the animal and sought help from Murkot.
Volunteers who came to pick up the cat saw that she was pregnant. Cleo was immediately sterilized and they began looking for a home for her. It turned out that the kitten has an unusual trait: depending on the weather, she changes her «outfit». In the heat, she is bald, and in the cold, she grows fur. A home was found for Cleo, but she didn«t stay with her new owners for long.
«I gave her away in July, when she was bald. They returned her to me in September, and she was already »dressed«,» jokes Natalia. «Perhaps she gets dressed at the end of August or beginning of September.»
According to Natalia, the cat was returned to the shelter because she was going outside the litter box. Along with Cleo, they also gave away litter with a very strong smell. Probably, it was this that scared the cat away from the litter box. Now Cleo is given the previous bentonite litter, and she uses the litter box properly. Natalia says that she is ready to give the cat only to those who are willing to consider her needs.
«I give her away strictly on the condition of a specific food, since sphinx cats have a very weak gastrointestinal tract. And strictly with a specific litter,» warns Natalia. «If people are not ready for the fact that there will be litter scattered near the litter box at home, and this is unavoidable, then it»s easier for them to get a soft toy, not a cat.«
The sphinx cat«s deep blue eyes are a striking feature that draws attention.
Cleo has a kind nature, and she is waiting for equally sensitive owners.
«At first she is afraid of new people, but she is actually very affectionate,» Natalia Vodoleeva told 59.RU. «She needs to be constantly petted, held close. She doesn»t really like to sit on hands or laps. But she likes to be nearby. She always stands on her hind legs to be petted, rubs herself. She is very kind, calm, a normal cat. Not noisy, doesn«t scratch anything, doesn»t run around.«
