Mother and Son Adopt Perm Cat

Barsik appears content and comfortable posing for photographs at his new home.
We recently reported the story of a green‑eyed handsome cat who had lived on the street all summer and, as temperatures dropped, moved onto the city’s heating pipes. Residents of buildings on Revolyutsii Street (Perm) could not watch the cat freeze and decided to find him a new home. This week a family took the fluffy cat in.
The volunteer who organized help for the cat, Perm resident Sergey, told 59.RU that the stray was most likely once a house pet. He is very affectionate and sociable. The breed appears to be British Shorthair or possibly Russian Blue. Sergey believes the cat once lived at the psychoneurological dispensary on Revolyutsii Street (Perm), which relocated at the end of winter.
«I assume the cat hid during the move, or was forgotten», — the Perm resident said.
Compassionate locals brought the lost cat to the Nebolit veterinary clinic (transliteration: Nebolit) and paid for his examinations. It turned out the cat is healthy, young, neutered and even litter‑trained. The stray was temporarily sheltered at the clinic.
Irina, a veterinarian at the Nebolit clinic, told 59.RU that two days later the cat went to his new owners.
«We conducted a small selection — we simply wanted the cat to end up in good hands», — Irina told 59.RU. — «A mother and her schoolboy son contacted us. They said that this summer their cat died, and it looked very much like our stray rescued from the street. We liked the family, and the cat went to live with them».
The new owners named the cat Barsik.
Earlier we wrote that in Perm a new home was being sought for a sphynx cat named Sanya Borodach. He was rescued from an abandoned building.
