The kittens, which tourists found together with the mother cat in the forest of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, were placed in good hands. Volunteer Anna told NN.RU about this.

As we reported, the cat approached tourists who had set up a tent camp in nature. They were very surprised: there was forest all around, and the nearest city was 120 kilometers away. Murka (as they named the cat) started coming to people from time to time. Later, it turned out that she had kittens: she was hiding the babies in trees.

At first, the tourists couldn’t take the family — they left food and promised to return. The people kept their promise.

“There were many adventures. One kitten got stuck on tree roots over a river cliff. The guys practically risked their health to get it out, because they could have fallen too. They spent more than an hour there,” Anna told NN.RU.

In total, three kittens were found — they and Murka were taken to Nizhny Novgorod. They spent a couple of weeks in a greenhouse at one of the tourists« places, after which volunteers took them. The babies were placed. According to Anna, one kitten is not settling in well with the family yet: perhaps the fluffy one will have to find a new home.

Now volunteers are trying to place the mother cat as well. Murka was spayed, treated for parasites, and trained to use a litter box. Since there are many animals in foster care and not all are vaccinated, they have to be kept in cages. Sometimes the cats are let out to run around.

For a while, a woman who had her entire apartment filled with flowers was looking after Murka. The cat, finding herself among plants, started digging soil in pots. To prevent her from developing a bad habit, the volunteers decided to take her back.

“She is very affectionate, she likes to sit on laps, she can ‘talk’. The cat is so interesting, very smart. The fact that she managed to save her kittens is, of course, an [amazing] story,” Anna shared.
