Abandoned Cat Survives Forest, Hides Kittens in Trees
A cat that survived for months in the forest is now looking for a new home.
In Nizhny Novgorod, they are looking for a home for a heroic mother cat found in the forest wilderness. She survived for several months in the thicket, protecting her kittens. The story of Bagira was told by her rescuers on a free classifieds website.
This summer, tourists set up a tent camp in nature. Around them — forest, the nearest city is 120 kilometers away. Therefore, people were very surprised when a cat as beautiful as Bagira came out to them. They rushed to feed the emaciated forest guest.
“She came in the morning, afternoon, and evening, with hope in her eyes — clearly someone betrayed her and abandoned her in the wilderness … Later it became clear: she had little kittens somewhere in the thicket, wild and timid. But she came to people — not for herself, but for them. To survive and feed her babies,” the cat’s rescuers said.
When leaving, the tourists built an automatic feeder for her and left food. They promised themselves that they would definitely return for Bagira.
“And they returned! But the cat wasn’t there… Around — fox tracks, anxiety in their hearts. Already almost in despair, they sat on their clearing, poured tea… And then — ‘Meow!’ She came out. ALIVE. WHOLE. STRONG. And the kittens? They started watching — and found them… in the trees! She hid them, saved them from the wild nature! What a smart cat! Smart, kind, affectionate,” is written in the announcement.
What happened to the kittens is not specified. For their mother — a cat about a year old — they are looking for caring owners. She has been sterilized and treated for parasites.
