Yaroslavl Braces for Frosty First Week of February

The last month of winter has arrived. In January, the Yaroslavl region was hit by record frosts, strong winds, and snowfalls. Meteorologists from the Fobos meteorological center have given a forecast for the first week of February. Let«s see what to expect.

«Frosts will continue — until the end of the first five-day period of February, the average air temperature will be 8–12° below the climatic norm,» forecast experts from Fobos for Central Russia.

The Ministry of Regional Security of the Yaroslavl Region warned residents about strengthening wind with gusts of 12-17 m/s, blizzard, and visibility reduction to 300-800 m on February 1.

«Due to the strengthening wind gusts, check the draft in smoke and ventilation channels when using gas. Pedestrians, be careful when moving on streets and roads. Drivers, observe the speed limit,» cautioned the ministry.

According to the Fobos forecast, on February 1 in Yaroslavl, variable cloudiness, heavy snow, and fog are expected. Throughout the day, the temperature will stay around -14…16°C (3…7°F).

On the night of February 2, heavy snow is forecast, thermometers will show -13…15°C (5…9°F). During the day, precipitation will continue with the same intensity, and the temperature will vary within -10…12°C (10…14°F).

On the night of February 3, thermometers will drop to -20…22°C (-8…-4°F), during the day it will warm up slightly and be -15…17°C (1…5°F). No precipitation is expected on Tuesday.

Throughout the day on February 4, increased pressure and variable cloudiness are forecast. At night, the temperature will drop to -20…22°C (-8…-4°F), during the day it will warm up slightly to -13…15°C (5…9°F).

On the night of February 5, thermometers will show -17…19°C (-2…1°F), during the day it will become warmer — around -8…10°C (14…18°F). Variable cloudiness without precipitation is expected.

Throughout the day on February 6, there will be partly cloudy weather and increased pressure. At night, the temperature will fall to -16…18°C (0…3°F), during the day it will rise to -6…8°C (18…21°F).

On the night of February 7, variable cloudiness without precipitation is forecast. At night, the temperature will drop to -17…19°C (-2…1°F), during the day thermometers will show -6…8°C (18…21°F).

On Sunday, February 8, cloudy weather is expected: light precipitation will fall and there will be heavy fog. At night, the temperature will drop to -8°C (18°F), during the day the air will warm up to -5°C (23°F).
