Yaroslavl Authorities Issue Blizzard and Heavy Snow Warning

Weather officials warn of blizzards and icy roads in Yaroslavl Oblast during the forecast period.
Residents of Yaroslavl have been warned of a sudden deterioration in weather. According to the forecast, from 18:00 on January 26 to 09:00 on January 27, blizzard conditions, heavy snowfall, and reduced visibility to 300–800 meters are expected in the city and region.
«Southwest winds will strengthen with gusts up to 15 m/s (34 mph), with icy roads and snowpack expected in parts of Yaroslavl Oblast and Yaroslavl. ... Pedestrians, move carefully on streets and roads. Drivers, be attentive, observe speed limits and maintain distance,» reported the Yaroslavl city administration.

According to data from specialists at «Fobos», during the week from January 26 to February 1, a warm cyclone is expected to change the weather in Central Russia. Frosts will be replaced by warming and snowfall. In Yaroslavl Oblast, it will warm up slightly by Wednesday, January 28. Daytime temperatures will be -8…-13 degrees Celsius (18…9°F). However, by the weekend, frosts down to -22 degrees Celsius (-8°F) will return to the region.
