Residents of Samara will have to endure abnormal frost for a couple more days. The Volga Hydrometeorological Center (Volga Hydromet) issued a forecast that is disappointing for warmth lovers.

‘The influence of the ridge of the Siberian anticyclone will persist at the beginning of the work week. Windless, frosty weather is expected with minimum air temperatures in some areas below -30°C (-22°F),’ said meteorologist Irina Vytagova.

On Monday, January 26, the region will be partly cloudy, but the sun will not provide warmth. Thermometers will show from -15°C (5°F) to -20°C (-4°F). However, there will be practically no wind, and light frost is possible.

On the night of Tuesday, January 27, the region will cool down to between -22°C (-8°F) and -27°C (-17°F). In some places, the temperature will drop as low as -32°C (-26°F). During the day, it will be from -14°C (7°F) to -19°C (-2°F).

It will warm up slightly on Wednesday, January 28. Temperatures are expected from -8°C (18°F) to -13°C (9°F). But the wind will strengthen, with gusts up to 15-18 m/s in some areas.

However, by the end of the month, the long-awaited warming may come to the region. According to the long-term forecast on the Gismeteo resource, already on Thursday, January 29, thermometers in Samara will rise to -5°C (23°F).
