Perm Krai to experience temperature swings from -5°C to -35°C

Weather forecasts predict significant temperature fluctuations and heavy snowfalls across the Perm region.
This week in Perm will begin with cold, then warm to -5°C (23°F) by the end of the week, then freeze again. What other surprises to expect from the weather was explained by Doctor of Geographical Sciences Andrey Shikhov in his Telegram channel «Dangerous Natural Phenomena of Perm Krai».
Monday, 26 January
Today the weather is influenced by a cold anticyclone: in the south of the krai it will be warmer than in the north. It will be cloudy almost all day, but it may clear up by evening.
In the north of the krai, Shikhov forecasts -13…-15°C (9…5°F), and in the south — down to -20°C (-4°F), in Perm -16…-18°C (3…0°F) is expected.
Tuesday, 27 January
In the morning and at night in Perm, it will cool to -21…-23°C (-6…-9°F). During the day, snow will fall, heaviest in the north. The wind will strengthen, with gusts up to 12 meters per second. In Perm, it will warm to -12…-14°C (10…7°F).
Wednesday, 28 January
In the middle of the week, snow will fall mainly in the south of the krai, while the north will have no precipitation. In Perm and the krai, Andrey Shikhov forecasts -10…-15°C (14…5°F), in the far north — down to -20°C (-4°F).
Thursday, 29 January
On Thursday, a warm front of a cyclone from Belarus will approach Perm Krai, and heavy snowfall will begin. The snow will last a long time, especially in the central and southern districts of the region, and will intensify by evening. In the south, a strong wind will blow at 12–14 meters per second.
In the south and in Perm, it will warm: if in the morning it is -10°C (14°F), by evening it is expected to be -5°C (23°F). In the north of the region, the frost will not retreat: Shikhov forecasts -15…-20°C (5…-4°F). Precipitation is unlikely, but if it does occur, 5–10 centimeters of snow may fall during the day.
Friday, 30 January
On Friday night, heavy snowfall will pass in the south of the region. In Perm, it will be weaker, warming to -5°C (23°F). During the day, an Arctic invasion will begin. The snow will stop, and by evening in the north of the krai it will be around -20°C (-4°F).
Saturday, 31 January
After the snowfall, frost will return to Perm Krai. In the north of the region in the morning, it may be below -30°C (-22°F). The peak of the cold is expected on the night of Sunday, 1 February. In the north of Prikamye, the temperature will drop to -35°C (-31°F).
