Forecasters predict warming in Urals after cold snap

After anomalously cold days in Chelyabinsk Oblast, meteorologists promise significant warming by the end of the week.

Due to severe frosts observed at the beginning of the week, classes for grades 1-7 in Chelyabinsk Oblast were canceled. In the morning hours, thermometer readings dropped to -28 degrees Celsius (-18°F).
According to the regional hydrometeorological center, the anomalously cold weather with nighttime temperatures down to -30, -35 °C (-22, -31°F) will soon change. «From January 28–31, warm air masses will spread to the Urals via southwestern flows, and the region will warm up significantly. Average daily temperatures are expected to be up to 8 degrees above normal, meaning nighttime temperatures will be around -10 to -15 °C (14 to 5°F), and daytime temperatures around -5 °C (23°F),» meteorologists specified.
The Siberian anticyclone will be replaced by warmer air masses. However, closer to the weekend, specialists forecast increased snowfall in the region.
