Traffic light synchronization tested on Omsk's Red Way

Omsk authorities are testing synchronized traffic light controls on Red Way to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
In Omsk, new traffic light settings are being tested on Red Way, which should help reduce travel time on this street. City residents regularly complain that during peak hours, they idle in traffic jams for long periods and spend a lot of time on trips. Another appeal appeared in the comments under one of the posts on the VKontakte page of Governor Vitaly Khotsenko.
«Could you please deal with the situation with the huge traffic jam on Red Way. For the second day in a row, traffic is at a standstill. From the terminus at Barkhatovaya, we»ve been driving since 7:40 and still haven«t reached Sibzavod. The time is 9:05,» wrote user Sveta Kazachenko.
Transport and Road Management Minister Andrei Khafizov responded to the comment. He reported that the road management department is aware of this problem and is keeping it under control. To increase the road«s capacity, several traffic lights have been reconfigured: at the intersections of Red Way/Kemerovskaya, Red Way/Frunze, and near the »Rabinovicha« stop.
«On these traffic light facilities, adjustments to the regulation modes have been made, aimed at ensuring maximum traffic flow capacity. Currently, testing of coordinated control of traffic light facilities is being conducted on this section of the street-road network,» said Andrei Khafizov.
Coordinated control is when traffic lights are connected to each other and synchronized to allow more cars through in one phase.
Yesterday, January 27, a serious traffic jam on Red Way, Zaozyornaya Street, and Mira Avenue formed due to an accident on the bridge near the Television Center, where two buses were unable to pass each other.
