Railway chief announces Samara-Ufa high-speed train launch

The head of the Kuibyshev Railway, Vyacheslav Dmitriev, stated that a high-speed electric train from Samara to Ufa could launch by April 30, with technical readiness confirmed.

It became known how projects for direct railway connections from Samara to other Russian cities are progressing. The issue was discussed on Tuesday, January 27, at a meeting between journalists and the head of the Kuibyshev Railway, Vyacheslav Dmitriev.

«Technical capabilities allow for launching »Lastochki« high-speed trains to Ufa three times a week — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The head of Bashkortostan and the governor of Samara Oblast have supported the project. It is now undergoing final approval. And it could be launched as early as April 30; we are technically ready,» said Vyacheslav Dmitriev.

Last year, several large-scale plans were announced for launching electric trains and trains from Samara to new destinations, as well as more modern trains on existing routes. Residents of the region also await further development of railway communication within the oblast. This refers to an electric train from Samara to Kurumoch. In August last year, information appeared that they could be launched in 2028.
